Project

This innovative European project was selected for funding by the European Commission under the LIFE + environmental programme, with the aim of obtaining an environmental solution to a common problem in EU countries; such is the management of WEEEs.

Ecovitrum will develop a new model of integral management of (CRT) technology televisions and monitors; working from increasing public awareness to the pursuit of technical and market outlets for the glass obtained after the treatment processes at the pilot plant.

The launch of this new management model, which aims to achieve better performance in the recycling of obsolete televisions and monitors, will have a direct effect on both collection points for WEEEs (clean points / Ecoparks), management systems (IMS integrated management systems), and finally on WEEE selection and treatment plants.
The implementation of the project will end with the completion of tests on an industrial scale on the application of glass in construction materials companies. The aim is to demonstrate the possibility of converting a residue, such as CRT glass, into high quality material.
